  • Rumor of police raid on FPRRD’s house stirs crowd

SUPPORTERS of former President Rodrigo Duterte anxiously milled outside the family’s ancestral home in Doña Luisa Subdivision, Ecoland, beginning Wednesday night, following reports of the police supposedly preparing to search the property.

As of Thursday, May 1, a tarpaulin hung outside the house of Davao City First District Representative Paolo Duterte, with a warning against “planting evidence” as he released a statement on April 30 warning about additional Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) and the Special Action Force (SAF) personnel arriving in the city.

Also on April 30, the report of a possible raid stirred the usually quiet crowd standing guard outside the house.

“We strongly condemn the recent actions of the PNP-CIDG, which have clearly crossed the line into harassment against my family. It is disheartening to see that those sworn to uphold the law are being blinded—not by justice, but by money,” the statement read.

“The real criminals in our society are being ignored while some in the higher ranks have seemingly sold their integrity.

“Let me be clear: we are documenting everything and listing the names of those involved.

When the time comes, you will answer—not to us—but to the very forces of justice you have turned your back on. You won’t be facing people with money, but people who are ready to stand their ground,” it added.

He said they monitored 30 CIDG operatives and 90 SAF personnel from Luzon arriving in Davao City.

The younger Duterte said his family remains alert and is monitoring the situation.

Meanwhile, the Police Regional Office XI (PRO XI) declined to comment on the congressman’s statement.

When asked on Wednesday night to confirm the arrival of CIDG operatives and PNP SAF personnel, PRO XI spokesperson Major Catherine Dela Rey stated that they would need to check their operations and could not comment on the matter at that time.

TIMES is awaiting a response from CIDG head Major General Nicolas Torre III, following inquiries made on Thursday, May 1.

However, PNP spokesperson Brig Gen Jean Fajardo revealed that Torre confirmed they don’t have operations in Davao, adding that they don’t know where the congressman got the information.

In a press briefing on Thursday afternoon, Fajardo described the alleged CIDG pressure on the Dutertes as “fake news.”
