MANILA, Philippines – PUBLiCUS Asia Inc., together with the Young Economists’ Society and the Junior Marketing Association of Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila (PLM), successfully held the NEWGEN Rocks 2025! Voter Education Seminar on Friday, April 25, 2025, via Zoom. The event aimed to inspire and mobilize young voters to take an active role in shaping the nation’s future ahead of the 2025 National and Local Elections.
The seminar began with opening remarks from Jessca Marl M. Europeo, President of the PLM Young Economists’ Society, who emphasized the importance of the event in creating a safe space where “every voice matters and every question counts.” She highlighted that voter education is not only a responsibility but also a right, empowering individuals to make informed decisions and contribute to a thriving society.
Approximately 500 PLM students participated in the online seminar. Mr. Alfred Petterwelch Lacbayo, Senior Technical Analyst at PUBLiCUS Asia, delivered a compelling talk on the value of electoral participation. He discussed how to vote, how to evaluate candidates, and how to recognize leadership qualities such as integrity, courage, and community-mindedness. The session concluded with an engaging Q&A segment where students actively posed questions and reflected on the kind of leaders the country needs.
Trixie J. Biu, President of the PLM Junior Marketing Association, expressed her gratitude to PUBLiCUS Asia and commended the students for their involvement. She challenged her fellow Gen Z voters, saying, “As we end the event, I challenge you—and myself—to be a generation that decides with purpose. Magbasa, mangialam, at bumoto.”
PUBLiCUS Asia Director for Political Campaigns Ariel Barroga thanked PLM students for their proactive collaboration and active participation. He stressed the significant impact of the youth vote, urging participants to carefully consider the platforms of candidates.
To show appreciation, PUBLiCUS Asia awarded Certificates of Appreciation and tokens to the PLM student organizations. Participants also received giveaways, including political diaries, handheld fans, and NEWGEN Rocks! stickers.
