Twenty persons were arrested in the latest Oplan Kalinaw in nine barangays of the city on Wednesday.
The Oplan Kalinaw is a four-in-one area security and community service operation conducted by the Davao City Police Office (DCPO) and other support groups.
The simultaneous operations in nine urban poor communities on Wednesday also resulted in the identity check and profiling of 1,306 residents, including 97 transient residents who have no identification card, said DCPO spokesperson Sr. Insp. Maria Teresita Gaspan.
Arrested during the operation were Ramil Corcuera (attempted murder), Cynthia Lisondra (qualified theft), John Paul Elisan Angcajas and Jayban Mar Cabuenas Jaiden (theft), Rodel Paragas Bagorio (reckless imprudence resulting in homicide), John Paotis Mefsut (reckless imprudence resulting in serious physical injuries), John Casaberde Ampoa (reckless imprudence resulting in less serious physical injuries), Ferdinand Sagusara (acts of lasciviousness), Ferdinand Siona (violence against women and their children), Elizabeth Inte (RA 9287), John Reizel Obando Aleon (RA 9262), John Mcloude Caballero (PD 1619), Cherry Mae Mamalias (PD 115), Adolfo Garanggaya Babiles and Marilou Bara Cuizon (PD 1602), and Renato Tabalwan Deplan and Jeannie Bravo (SSS law).
Three persons – Darwin Cawa Sagon, Romel Pandamon Jovanie and Jeyson Danwata Malambingan – were also arrested for physical injury by police operatives responding to a call for police assistance.
As the regular weekly police operations also involve community outreach, a total of 514 residents benefitted from the medical mission, including 49 residents who availed of dental operation and 32 availed of free circumcision, on Wednesday.
The latest Oplan Kalinaw were conducted in Barangay Gov. Paciano Bangoy (under Sta. Ana Police Precinct); Purok 5, Sanasa, Brgy 40-D (under San Pedro Police Precinct); Prk 3, Sitio Nalum, Brgy Baliok (under Talomo Police Precinct); Sisoy Beach, Lizada Village, Brgy Sasa (under Sasa Police Precinct); Old San Isidro, Brgy Buhangin (under Buhangin Police Precinct); Phase1, Panuntungan, Brgy Tibungco (under Bunawan Police Precinct); Sto Nino, Brgy Binugao (under Toril Police Precinct); Sitio Mahayahay, Brgy Tugbok (under Tugbok Police Precinct); and Lower Sirib, Brgy Sirib (under Calinan Police Precinct).
Aiding the DCPO in the operations include the Task Force Davao, the Police Regional Health Service, the Philippine Coast Guard, the Regional Mobile Unit, the Bureau of Fire and Protection XI, the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG), the Regional Intelligence Unit, the 44th Special Action company, and the City Health Office.
The four-in-one Oplan Kalinaw aims to initiate: identity/background check and profiling of transient residents in our urban poor communities in the city; manhunt operations/ arrest of wanted persons/fugitives hiding in these communities; community outreach/free medical check-up and giving of medicines and vitamins; and community empowerment thru crime prevention education.
The operations started by 6 a.m. and ended by noon.
