MEDICAL assistance or guarantee letters from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) can now be availed at the Malasakit Centers.
To further streamline services for patients, the Senate committee on health, chaired by Senator Christopher Lawrence “Bong” Go, announced yesterday that the DSWD will now issue guarantee letters (GLs) for those seeking medical assistance in all Malasakit Centers nationwide.
The DSWD revised a memorandum circular to formally make medical assistance funds available to patients seeking help from Malasakit Centers.
Go, the architect of the Malasakit Centers Program, said this development is a significant step forward as patients no longer need to go to DSWD regional offices to obtain medical assistance.
This move aligns with the goal of Malasakit Centers to bring government services closer to those who need it most, especially the poor.
Moreover, the Department of Health also announced that funding for Malasakit Centers will continue uninterrupted.
DOH Secretary Ted Herbosa assured that No patient will be turned away when they seek assistance from Malasakit Centers.
The secretary also expressed gratitude to Senator Bong Go, noting that Malasakit Centers have already helped over 15 million Filipinos.
