TROOPS from the 67th Infantry (Agila) Battalion, under the 701st Infantry (Kagitingan) Brigade, acted swiftly on a tip from residents regarding possible armed activity in Sitio Manawi, Barangay Simulao, Boston, Davao Oriental, on Dec. 8.
Major Ruben Gadut, the 10th Infantry Division Public Affairs Office chief, said an engagement ensued, resulting in the recovery of a grenade launcher, a medical kit, and various other items.
Fortunately, Gadut said there were no casualties among government forces. The condition of the armed group remains unknown.
This operation, carried out as part of the 10ID’s intensified Focused Military Operations to defeat remnants of the Southern Mindanao Regional Committee (SMRC), highlights the Agila Division’s unwavering dedication to preserving the insurgency-free status of the Davao Region.
The Integrated Territorial Defense System (ITDS) also played a role in the operation.
Agila Division commander, Major General Allan Hambala, thanked his the public’s active participation and trust in reporting potential threats.
He emphasized the strong partnership between the community and security forces, which continues to uphold the region’s peace and progress.
“The people of the Davao Region have shown their commitment to the peace and vibrant way of life we now enjoy,” said Hambala. “The sustained cooperation between residents and our soldiers reflects a shared resolve to maintain this stability. Together, we ensure that the achievements we’ve worked hard for are preserved.”
The ITDS remains instrumental in fostering collaboration between local communities and security forces, effectively preventing the resurgence of armed groups within the 10ID’s area of operations.
