DCPO warns against bomb threats

THE DAVAO City Police Office (DCPO) warned the public sternly against making bomb threats, even if they might think it was simply a joke.

The police emphasized that making a bomb threat, whether in person, online, or through any other means of communication, is a serious crime under Presidential Decree No. 1727.

Offenders face a penalty of up to five years imprisonment and a fine of P40,000.

This warning comes after a bomb threat incident at a school in Cabaguio, Davao City on the morning of Nov. 14, 2024, which caused panic among students and teachers.

Even if intended as a joke, DCPO acting director Col. Hansel Marantan said making a bomb threat can instill fear in the public.

Marantan stressed that bomb threats are not a trivial matter and can lead to severe penalties and imprisonment.

He urged everyone to be vigilant and responsible in their actions.

The DCPO also called for cooperation among the community to maintain peace and security in the city.
