Lt. Gen. Bergante specifically recognized the 10ID’s crucial role in maintaining an insurgency-free environment in the Davao Region and parts of Bukidnon.
Addressing the troops, he emphasized the importance of camaraderie, mental health awareness, and modernization within the armed forces. “Our strength lies not just in numbers but in our unity,” he stated, highlighting the importance of mutual support. He also underscored the need to prioritize mental well-being and implement support systems for soldiers.
Looking ahead, Lt. Gen. Bergante stressed the need for modernization as the Philippine Army transitions from Internal Security to Territorial Defense Operations. “As we move forward in our mission to safeguard our nation’s sovereignty, we must continue to advance our capabilities. Modernizing our equipment and facilities is not merely an option—it is a necessity,” he added.
Lt. Gen. Bergante, a member of the Philippine Military Academy “Bigkis-Lahi” Class of 1990, brings extensive experience to his role, having previously served as Commander of the Training and Doctrine Command, among other leadership positions.
