CTTMO deploys 712 traffic personnel, sets temporary speed limit for IRONMAN events

THE CITY Transport and Traffic Management Office (CTTMO) will deploy a total of 712 personnel to manage the traffic during IRONMAN events during the Kadayawan Festival.

CTTMO Head Dionisio Abude announced on Thursday, Aug. 1, during the iSpeak media forum this is to ensure seamless movement.

“Apart from the personnel deployed, we will also implement temporary speed limits, especially in areas that will observe two-way traffic,” Abude said.

During the IRONMAN 70.3 main event on Aug. 11, CTTMO will deploy 286 traffic personnel.

The IRONMAN 70.3 triathlon will be included in the festival held on Aug. 11, 6 a.m. at the Coastal Road where athletes will compete in a 1.9 km open water swim; 90 km bike ride, and 21.1 km half marathon.

The coastal road will be closed from the corner of Bago to the Talomo section for 24 hours, on Aug. 5 to 8, while on August 9, the road will be closed from the corner of Bago Aplaya to the corner of Tulip-Ecoland Drive for 24 hours. 

On Aug. 11, a 24-hour road closure will be implemented from Bago Aplaya to Tulip-Ecoland Drive, and the northbound lane from Bago Aplaya to the Corobob Sea Oil Depot in Sta. Cruz, Davao del Sur will be open to two-way traffic from 3 a.m. until 1 p.m.

Abude said from 712 traffic personnel, 136 will be deployed for the IRONMAN preparation at the Coastal Road from August 5-8; 145 for Gwapa Dabawenya fun run on August 9, and the same number for the IRONMAN Kids event set on August 10. 

Meanwhile, the temporary speed limit will be implemented from 3 am – 1 pm on August 11 along the southbound direction – from Bago-Aplaya to Carabao Waypark, and from Carabao Waypark up to the Boundary of Sta. Cruz. 

This is 60 kph from Bago Aplaya up to Carabao Waypark then after Carabao Monument Waypark (Toril) up to the boundary of Sta. Cruz is 80 kph for light vehicles and 60 kph for trucks and buses. 

For the areas with two-way traffic, 40 kph is set for light vehicles while 30 kph is for trucks and buses. 

Abude said that they also coordinated with the municipality of Sta. Cruz for a synchronized movement.
