Two Indonesians are now in the custody of the Bureau of Immigration (BI) in Davao after they were apprehended while sailing at the coastal area of Sarangani, Davao Occidental on Friday.

Police Regional Office XI spokesperson Chief Insp Milgrace Driz, in a report given to the reporters, identified the foreigners are Josapath Layang, 49, a pastor, and Elmer Macodompis, 29, a fisherman.

Based on the report, the two were apprehended in a motorized banca by personnel of the Sarangani Municipal Police Station together with immigration officers at 6:49 p.m. on Friday.

The two reportedly came from Marori Island in Indonesia and were bound to Sitio Patua in Barangay Batuganding, Sarangani.

The banca was owned by certain Teresa Marie Basilan.

The two were immediately placed in the custody of the Sarangani police station as they could not present their legal documents. They were endorsed to the immigration office based here.

The PRO XI is appealing to the public, especially to residents in coastal areas, to report to the nearest police or barangay officer any suspected entry of foreigners/foreign vessels in their community.
