NEARLY 1,500 passengers were stranded at the Davao International Airport when the global Microsoft outage disrupted the systems of budget carriers Cebu Pacific and AirAsia on July 19.
However, airport manager Rex Obcena confirmed that normal flight operations have resumed as of 1:11 a.m. on Saturday, July 20.
The outage primarily affected Terminal 3, causing significant delays and cancellations.
With that, several airlines at Davao International Airport were forced to conduct manual check-in procedures last night due to a global technology outage.
The outage, which affected not only airlines in the Philippines but also those worldwide, was reportedly caused by a faulty computer update related to Microsoft Windows.
Obcena reported that an estimated 1,403 passengers were affected by the canceled Cebu Pacific flights, though this figure awaits validation by the airline.
Despite the initial chaos and inconvenience caused by the system outage, airport authorities worked diligently to manage the situation and assist stranded passengers.
With the restoration of the affected systems, DIA is back on track, and travelers can expect a smoother experience in the coming days.
