- Memo states PRO XI’s request to reassign 45 police personnel to Camp Crame
THE POLICE Regional Office XI (PRO XI) is awaiting a response from the PNP national headquarters on its request to reassign 45 personnel, including 17 officers and 28 non-commissioned officers.
According to the request, the law enforcers will temporarily hold office at the Directorate for Personnel and Records Management (DPRM) Personnel Holding and Accounting Unit (PHAU) in Camp Crame.
In an interview, PRO XI spokesperson Major Catherine Dela Rey said that Brig. Gen. Nicolas Torre III, the regional director, would not comment on the reassignments since it is an internal matter.
“Dili siya mo deny or mo confirm ato kay internal affairs mangud to sa PNP and dili sya mugawas gani sa media ( He will not deny or confirm because it is an internal affairs of the PNP and not to be leak in the media),” Dela Rey said.
Torre has also ordered an investigation into the leak of the confidential memorandum detailing the request.
“So, gipa imbestigahan pa niya pud kung kinsa ang nag leak, so there’s no need for explanation and then kung mag reklamo tong mga na reassign saka pa sya muhatag sa rason (So, RD ordered an investigation on who leaked [the memorandum] and if there will be PNP personnel who will complain about the reassignment then that’s the time the RD will explain his reasons),” Dela Rey said.
Dela Rey emphasized that the leaked memo was a request from the regional director to transfer the personnel to PHAU and reiterated that it should not have been made public.
She said they are “still waiting for the reply, and still waiting for the decision from the national headquarters.”
A memo obtained by the TIMES revealed that the affected officers consisted of 17 officers (three police colonels, three lieutenant colonels, six majors, four captains, and one lieutenant), mostly relieved police station commanders of the DCPO.
Meanwhile, the 28 non-commissioner personnel (two police senior master sergeants, five master sergeants, nine staff sergeants, seven corporals, and five patrolmen) were primarily stationed at the Davao City Police Office’s police stations, regional headquarters, and various police provincial offices.
She further clarified that reassignments within the PNP can occur at any time and to any location, highlighting the need for confidentiality in such matters.
When asked about the reason for requesting the transfer of such a large number of personnel to PHAU, Dela Rey explained that it could be due to various reasons, including pending cases, schooling, or awaiting reassignment.
She noted that while personnel assigned to PHAU are often associated with having administrative or criminal cases, this is not always true.
Regarding the possibility of further reassignments in Davao, Dela Rey stated that it would depend on the commander’s decision and prerogative. She emphasized that police personnel should always be prepared for such changes as they can happen at any time.
