EIGHTEEN passengers were injured when an Toril-bound uso-uso jeepney rear-ended another passenger jeepney with the same route near crossing Puan, MacArthur Highway, Barangay Bago Aplaya around 7 a.m. on Thursday, June 27.
The vehicles involved were a Mitsubishi Jeepney (plate #LWM 132) driven by Muhamidin Kanakan Guiadil and an Isuzu Jeepney (plate #LAA 9421) driven by Elardo Jr Mohamad Abergas.
According to reports, both vehicles were heading north on MacArthur Highway when the Isuzu Jeepney crashed into the Mitsubishi jeepney from behind.
The report added the impact caused damage to both vehicles and injured three passengers in the Mitsubishi Jeepney and 15 in the Isuzu Jeepney.
Central 911 and Bago Aplaya BDRRMC personnel transported the injured passengers to Southern Philippines Medical Center for medical treatment.
Captain Hazel Tuazon, spokesperson for the Davao City Police Office (DCPO), said both drivers will be cited for traffic violations.
Tuazon said additional charges may be filed depending on whether the injured passengers choose to pursue legal action.
