IN RESPONSE to Mayor Sebastian Duterte’s social media call to action, the Davao City Police Office conducted a city-wide “Oplan Kalsada” operation targetting traffic violations and taxi fare overcharging.
Davao City Police Office (DCPO) chief Col. Richard Bad-ang directed the Traffic Enforcement Unit (TEU) to lead the operation.
Led by Lt. Col. Dexter Domingo, the TEU apprehended 206 traffic violators across various terminals in the operation joined by the Highway Patrol Group XI, City Traffic and Transport Management Office (CTTMO), and Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB),
The operatives issued 138 citations and 23 TOPs (temporary operator’s permits) for offenses ranging from violations of RA 10054 (Helmet Law), RA 4136 traffic regulations, and city ordinances. Also, two motorcycles were impounded during the day-long operation.
The LTFRB cited four taxis for failing to carry the latest CPC/PA, six for having defective dash cams, and one PUJ for breaching its franchise. Agents issued inspection report summons (IRS) to their drivers.
DCPO reiterated its commitment to zero tolerance for traffic violations and unfair practices, ensuring a safe and orderly city.
