PBBM graces BARMM’s legislative assembly

PRESIDENT Ferdinand Marcos Jr. extended his full support in achieving sustainable self-governance during the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao’s (BARMM) 1st Local Legislative General Assembly on Nov. 14 at Acacia Hotel, Davao City.

The first BARMM Local Legislative General Assembly was established through the guidance and partnership of the Vice Mayors’ League of the Philippines and the BARMM Ministry of the Interior and Local Government.

In his keynote speech, President Marcos Jr. emphasized the importance of the event as it signifies the measure of the country’s progress, for so many decades striving for peace.

“Whatever problem is in Mindanao is a Philippine problem, and that is why it requires the efforts of all to make sure that BARMM will be a success in the future,” the President said.

The president also highlighted his recent business visits, particularly the signing and exchange of Diplomatic Notes on the Non-Project Grant Aid for the acquisition of 6.8 million dollars worth of Construction Equipment for Road Network Improvement and Disaster Quick Response Operation in BARMM, headed by Prime Minister Fumio Kishida of Japan.

“We have continued in our contacts around – in the trips that I have taken for the government, especially when we are talking to the OIC when we are talking to Malaysia, when we are talking to other Islamic countries, we continue to remind them that BARMM still needs their support,” he said.

He also urged all Filipinos to take part in the progress as he believes that BARMM’s prosperity will create a positive ripple effect for the Philippine economy.

The BARMM Organic Law or RA 11054 is the inspiration of the gathering, with 67 Provincial Board Members, 34 Vice Mayors, 1,206 Councilors, and other local bodies attending the event.
