THE regional office of the Philippine Health Insurance Corp. (Philhealth) that premium will increase by 4.5% next year as part of the gradual adjustments based on the Universal Health Care Act of 2019.
Filbert Sollesta, operations chief of the Philhealth-Davao, said Monday during the Kapihan sa Dabaw at SM City that adjustments are to be implemented until 2025 and that those to be impacted were those receiving between P10,000 and P80,000 in salaries.
“Pursuant to Republic Act 11223, naka schedule gyod ta mutaas ang premium for next year 2023,” Sollesta said, explaining that the adjustments are the goal of the law so that health services that the national government is providing can be expanded to include those who cannot afford.
The implementation of the adjustment got derailed because of the pandemic, particularly during its height two years ago, he added.
Meanwhile, the agency has accredited 68 public health service providers in the region to implement the Konsultang Sulit at Tama (Konsulta) Package program.
Johanna Blason, the public relations officer of the agency, said it has prioritized the program so that more members could avail.
