Fifty years of looking back can be a fleeting moment or an eternity, depending on how you look at it.
But some of the pioneer doctors of Davao Doctors Hospital agree that the institution has come a long way since it was envisioned five decades ago.
The homegrown health institution, for the past 50 years, has continued to raise the bar in providing prime health service in the city of Davao. As it celebrates its golden jubilee, it carries with it memories not just of its own, but of the whole city as well.
“Reaching its golden year, DDH continues to prosper far beyond the vision casted by its founders. The idea that they have started has been forged into a great legacy – a distinguished institution built to last,” President and CEO Raymund Del Val said in the institution’s publication, The Pulse.
To celebrate 50 years of triumph, DDH has laid down numbers of events and activities for its week-long celebration this year.
First is the unveiling of its new logo with three colors, yellow, dark green, and light green, in an image of a bigger person extending hands to a smaller one.
“The yellow is the representation of the existing logo while the circle represents the unwavering commitment of providing accessible and quality healthcare to the community,” Ms. Mirasol Tiu, Vice President for HR and Admin explained during the kickstart of the anniversary activities last Monday.
“The dark green represents the people behind Davao Doctor’s Hospital, the founders, doctors, hospital staff, and the stakeholders. The light green depicted as a smaller person represents the patients. Its extended arms represent the long-standing relationship with the patients and their families,” she continued.
The logo, according to Tiu, signifies that the DDH and its patients are partners in taking care of health for the rest of their lives.
“The logo portrays a bigger person extending hands to a smaller person. It signifies that Davao Doctor’s Hospital is always ready to give a helping hand to the needy,” Tiu said.
“The big and the small person is interconnected forming a shape of a heart, a potent symbol for love. Loving means caring. And it only means that our brand of care goes beyond our patients’ stay in Davao Doctors Hospital. It encompasses a lifetime. This is because we truly and really care for life,” she added.
It also blessed and launched three new state-of-the-art digital imaging equipment such as the computer tomography scan (CT Scan), mammogram, and the catheterization laboratory or Cath Lab.
Del Val said they spent around P300 million on the said facilities, which are eyed to “raise the bar for therapeutic and diagnostic imaging in the region.”
The CT scan brags of its 256 slice, dual energy, and dual source capability that will provide better image resolution, less radiation exposure and less dose of contrast media.
The digital mammography will perform “lesser painful” tomosynthesis, and stereotactic breast biopsy.
Both technologies are the first in Mindanao.
Meanwhile, the Cath Lab, with its advanced digital 3D imaging technology, is expected to bring refined imaging especially on the veins.
Last Wednesday, July 3, the DDH also hosted a concert at SMX Convention Center with the DIVAS KZ Tandingan, Kyla, Angeline Quinto, and Yeng Constantino. They also held a motorcade, launched the coffee table book, and lighted the hospital façade.
The hospital has indeed come a long way. But surely, they will continue to pursue the brand they have established for 50 years strong.
