FOR NEARLY a decade, the SM Mall of Asia (MOA) Arena has been more than just a world-class events venue—it has become a place of belonging for thousands of persons on the autism spectrum.
Since 2014, the Autism Society Philippines (ASP) Angels Walk for Autism has found its symbolic and logistical home in the SM MOA Arena. This annual gathering, co-presented with SM Cares, brings together families, advocates, and communities in a united call for a more inclusive future—one where Filipinos on the spectrum are fully accepted, accommodated, and appreciated.
As one of the country’s premier indoor venues for concerts, sports, and large-scale events, the SM MOA Arena has been recognized for its inclusive design and accessibility. It features:
- Wheelchair-accessible entrances, seating, and restrooms
- Elevators and ramps for ease of mobility
- Trained staff to assist persons with disabilities (PWDs)
- Sensory-sensitive signage and spaces, ensuring comfort for all

Because of these features and its commitment to inclusivity, the Philippine Foundation for the Rehabilitation of the Disabled Inc. (PFRD) has even officially recognized SM MOA Arena as a PWD-friendly venue—affirming its role as a model of accessibility in public spaces.
More than infrastructure, however, SM MOA Arena has become a meaningful space where diverse communities feel seen and supported, exemplifying how public spaces can empower communities through thoughtful design and inclusive programming.
Its ongoing partnership with ASP represents a shared vision of a society that not only includes—but uplifts—every individual.
“Spaces like the SM Mall of Asia Arena remind us that inclusivity isn’t just a design principle—it’s a promise we make to every member of our community. By opening our doors to the Angels Walk year after year, we proudly stand with the autism community in every step toward awareness, acceptance, and action, building our shared vision of a society that embraces and celebrates diversity,” said Mr. Arnel C. Gonzales, SM MOA Arena senior assistant vice president and general manager.
As it continues to host milestones that matter, SM MOA Arena proves that every great venue can be a platform for purpose—where compassion, accessibility, and community come together under one roof.
