Davao City police arrest 98 in week-long crackdown on crime

NINETY-EIGHT individuals were arrested by the Davao City Police Office (DCPO) in a significant crackdown on illegal activities across the city during operations conducted from May 11 to May 17, 2025.

Acting city director Col Hansel M. Marantan said the intensive week-long effort focused on combating illegal drugs, illegal gambling, apprehending wanted persons, and seizing loose firearms.

In anti-illegal drug operations, the DCPO conducted 21 raids, leading to the apprehension of 27 individuals. Authorities confiscated 103.9010 grams of shabu with an estimated street value of P 706,526, and 59.0200 grams of marijuana valued at P7,082.

The campaign against illegal gambling also saw success, with seven operations leading to the arrest of eight gamblers and the confiscation of PHP 2,390.00 in bet money. Seven cases have been filed against the violators.

DCPO’s pursuit of wanted individuals resulted in 43 operations, culminating in the arrest of 43 persons.

 Among those apprehended were 10 individuals identified as “most wanted persons” and 33 other wanted individuals.

Efforts to curb the proliferation of loose firearms also yielded results. Through six operations, DCPO apprehended one individual and seized two illegal firearms. 

Additionally, three firearms were surrendered, two were turned in for safekeeping under “Oplan Katok,” and 1 case was filed in court related to firearms offenses.

The DCPO emphasized that these accomplishments underscore its unwavering commitment to enforcing the law while upholding human rights and adhering strictly to Police Operational Procedures.
