80 paintings to exhibit at IP Arts Festival Year 2

AROUND EIGHTY paintings attended by 45 artists will be displayed at the IP Arts Festival Year 2 at Philippine Eagle Center from Oct. 26 to Nov. 3.

IP Arts Festival Year 2 will be displaying artworks about the “Mohingod” philosophy emphasizing the interconnection between people, nature, and Mohingod spirits. 

The art festival aims to highlight the importance of the Obu-Manuvu’s relationship with the ecosystems and its respect for nature.

5 IP tribes of Davao namely the Obu-Manuvu, Bagobo Klata, Bagobo Tagabawa, Ata, and the Matigsalug will also be involved in the event.

According to Marben Subuan of the Pasukaddoy IP Art Group, the proceeds of the paintings will go to the Philippine Eagle Foundation for 20%, 70% to the artists, and 10% to the Pasukaddoy which it will be delivered to art workshops for kids and free art materials.

Subuan highlighted the challenges of maintaining culture for the IP youth in the modern era. With the IP Arts Festival Year 2, the paintings will highlight an IP community’s culture as well as for other people to learn about it.

The launching of the Mohingod Philosophy will also be conducted on October 30 at Barangay Tambobong about ancestral land care, and emphasizing natural resources accountability and stewardship.
