Presidential visit

FPRRD pays respect to felled police corporal caught in IP family in-fighting

FORMER President Rodrigo Duterte visited the wake of slain Corporal Mark Anthony Corsino at his home in Mintal, Tugbok District on Monday night, July 31.

Corsino was one of the two Calinan policemen who were hacked and shot by two members of the Matigsalug tribe last July 26 in the afternoon.

PCpl Corsino and Chief Master Sergent Tito Digal Lague were killed when they were brutally attacked by suspects Benao Lendas and Rico Masacay while the police officers responded to a call for assistance at Purok 4, Barangay Lacson, Calinan District.

The incident also caused serious injuries to the other responding mobile crew members, PCpl Ken Leo Diango Gumanoy and mobile driver Donald Ombrete.

Lendas was killed on the scene from multiple gunshot wounds while Macasay was arrested in a hot pursuit.

Also on Sunday, July 30, Police Regional Office XI director Brig Gen Alden Delvo and his wife Maria Tisha Goldie Delvo, paid tribute to the bravery of the two fallen policemen by visiting their respective wakes.

The regional police director also gave financial assistance to their respective families.

A day after the fatal incident, Delvo immediately visited the three injured personnel to give them both moral and financial support.

The case involving the deaths and injuries of PRO XI personnel and mobile crew members is considered solved with the death of one and the arrest of the other suspect who will be facing appropriate charges in court.

“We honor the lives and the bravery offered by our comrades in line with their duties. Their act of patriotism to perform their oath will never be forgotten. I have also immediately directed concerned offices to ensure that the benefits and financial support due their families will be given
