Mysterious death

Man reportedly dies of suffocation inside car, but police don’t know why

A MAN found dead inside his vehicle was believed to have suffocated while parked along the road leading to Hilltop, Barangay Langub, on Thursday.

Captain Hazel Tuazon, the newly designated spokesperson of the Davao City Police Office (DCPO), did not reveal the identity of the 25-year-old man at the family’s request.

According to a vendor, the vehicle had been parked by the side of the road on or about 2 a.m. that day [Thursday] with the engine still running.

At about 3 a.m., she noticed the vehicle in the same spot, but the engine was already turned off. Curious, she approached the car and peered inside. She saw a man in the driver’s seat who appeared lifeless.

This prompted her to call 911. Central 911 rescuers broke the window to unlock the vehicle and possibly give medical aid. But they were already too late.

The Regional Forensic Unit 11 team arrived to process the scene and recovered his personal belongings, which were turned over to his family. His remains were brought to Cosmopolitan Funeral Homes for autopsy.
