- Weeklong anti-drug operations net P6.6-M worth of shabu
THE DAVAO City Police Office (DCPO) intensified its anti-illegal drug operations, resulting in the confiscation of nearly a kilogram of shabu with an estimated street value of over P6.6 million from April 29 to May 5, 2024.
The largest seizure involved an 807-gram shabu haul conducted by the San Pedro Police Station in a buy-bust operation on May 3. The total volume of illegal drugs was valued at over P5.4 million.
“Our week-long operations yielded significant results,” said DCPO spokesperson PCapt. Hazel Tuazon in a Davao City Disaster Radio interview on Monday.
“We conducted 34 anti-drug operations, confiscated 977.284 grams of shabu worth P6,645,531.20, and filed 54 cases against violators,” she said.
Tuazon emphasized these figures reflected the DCPO’s strengthened anti-drug campaign. The office conducted 505 anti-drug operations since the beginning of the year, leading to the arrest of 629 individuals.
Furthermore, Tuazon credited the recent success to law enforcement’s increased efforts and community support. “We express our gratitude to the community for actively sharing information, which significantly impacts our fight against illegal drugs,” she stated.
In a statement, the DCPO reiterated its commitment to combating illegal drugs within the city. They consider the recent accomplishments a testament to this dedication and highlighted the role of their “Police sa Barangay” program in these successful operations.
“These successful operations are achievable through the invaluable help of the community, in collaboration with the local government of Davao and its barangay officials,” the statement concluded.
