Ex-NPA leader completes soldier course, bares report

A FORMER leader of the New People’s Army (NPA) has completed his integration to the military after completing the candidate soldier course which culminated in the graduation ceremony at at the Sgt Demerin Grandstand, Camp General Manuel T. Yan Sr. in Mawab, Davao De Oro on Saturday.

The military report identified him as Private Kurt Russel O. Sosa, known in the insurgency movement as Ugnay who was the former deputy secretary general of the Sub-Regional Committee 4 and secretary of the Guerilla Front 3.

Captain Mark Anthony, 10th Infantry Division Public Affairs Office head, said Sosa, also the former secretary of the Guerilla Front 3, also completed the Infantry Orientation Course.

During the candidate soldier course, Sosa was elected as president of the Katalas Class of 741, leading the 107 graduates, 89 of them men and the rest were women. Sosa was among the 10 members of the indigenous communities who completed the training.

Major General Nolasco A. Mempin, 10th Infantry Division commander, lauded the graduates and their relatives for their efforts in completing the military course.

“Our profession as a soldier will not make us rich. However, if we perform our duties and responsibilities with utmost nobility, this will give us a more fulfilled life than anyone else,” Mempin added. 

In her message, Davao De Oro Governor Dorothy M. Gonzaga also expressed her gratitude to the graduates for joining the military in protecting the people.

“Overwhelmed ang akong kasingkasing kay karong adlawa nahimo kong kabahin sa inyong graduation. Natagaan kog chansa na mosulti sa inyo sa akong kalipay na nadungagan na pud ang atong mga heroes sa atong kinabuhi ug sa atong nasud,” Gonzaga added.
