16 ex-rebels receive aid

THE Sustainable Livelihood Program of the Department of Social Welfare and Development XI  benefited 16 former rebels who received P20,000 each in assistance on Tuesday in Davao del Sur.

Sheryl Tan, SLP focal person in the region, handed out the money with the help of Geraldine Lano, provincial director of Provincial Social welfare and Development Office, lawyer Herbert Gonzales, Davao del Sur provincial administrator.

Lt. Col. Ezra Balagtey, commander of 39th Infantry Battalion, said the recipients are also beneficiaries of the Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program (E-CLIP) under the Task Force Balik Loob of the government where they would be provided with additional assistance packages under the program.

The beneficiaries were the ones who surrendered to the battalion last year.
