Hospitals to still require RT-PCR test results

HOSPITALS in the city, both public and private, still require mandatory reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) test results of patients that they are going to admit, a city government official said last week.

Dr. Michelle Schlosser, said that the result of the test is very important before a patient can be admitted to the hospital.

“We make sure that we are admitting patients who are COVID-19-free. Imagine if they are positive and they’ll be mixed up with sick people nga dali lang matakdan. The transmission will be a lot faster,” she said, adding that the move is to prevent the creation of an insurmountable problem.

“Dili nato na gusto nga dili ma test ang for admission nga mga patients,” she added as the city government, through the task force and the City Health Office and management of hospitals have agreed on the implementation of the policy to protect their patients and their human resources.

Hospital watchers are not required to undergo the test, unlike during the height of the pandemic when both the patients and their watchers needed to undergo the tests.

At present, she added, that patients need to pay for the tests as this is personal in purpose.

“Out of the pocket sa patients gyud ang RT-PCR testing sa private hospitals. I believe it is free at SPMC),” she said as she pointed out that wearing of masks in hospital remains mandatory.
