6,000 security personnel to guard Araw ng Dabaw activities

MORE THAN 6,000 security forces will be deployed starting Thursday to secure all activities of the 87th Araw ng Dabaw.

Speaking in yesterday’s AFP-PNP press briefing held at The Royal Mandaya Hotel, Captain Hazel Tuazon, spokesperson of Davao City Police Office (DCPO), said the law enforcers will be supported by police auxiliary and volunteers.

Of the 6,061, the DCPO will send 3,321 police officers, and the rest will come from the force multipliers. The Police Regional Office XI also committed to sending more personnel whenever necessary. 

She said there will be a soft deployment of personnel on Thursday before the start of activities on Friday, March 1.

On Friday, a Misa Pasasalamat will be conducted in San Pedro Cathedral to kickstart the Araw ng Dabaw celebration.

Moreover, the spokesperson reminded the public of the do’s and don’ts in the activity areas, especially on bringing backpacks and non-transparent water bottles and canisters.
