6 workers get grant

Six workers in the city who sustained work-related disabilities received a P20,000 grant from the Employees’ Compensation Commission (ECC), as part of a livelihood startup.

The grant is part of the long-standing mandate of the ECC to bring disabled workers back to the economic mainstream.

Under the Kagabay Programs of ECC, the beneficiaries who received different livelihood kits worth P20,000 last month were Ciano Gomintong, Aiza Puna, Marilou Bautista, Agripino Rosales Jr., Arnolfo Cuesta, Jr. and Jonathan Martinez, all from Davao.

Prior to the said livelihood kits, the recipients formerly availed of the EC disability benefits, free skill and entrepreneurial training, and rehabilitation services shouldered by ECC.

“We hope that they realize that despite their movement being restricted by disabilities they remain to have limitless opportunities to keep going economically,” ECC executive director Stella Zipagan-Banawis said.

She added that the ECC is hopeful that from this livelihood grant, sustainable prosperity will sprout for the families of the EC beneficiaries.
