According to 1Lt. Jade Bryce Buñe, the civil-military operations officer of 29IB, the six men also turned over an AK47 rifle, two AR15 rifles, an M4 Carbine rifle, and an M14 rifle with six live rounds.

Moldez revealed that they surrendered after hearing how their former comrades were treated by the government to help resume their normal lives.

“I’m also calling all our remaining members to avoid wasting our lives and let us return to fold of the law,” he said.

In a statement, LtCol Cresencio C Gargar, commanding officer of 29IB, said “I am glad that you have decided to lay down your arms and decided to surrender. Now that you are here, rest assured that you will be assisted and guided to properly return to normal life.”

Gargar also reiterated his call to the remaining members “The time is at its peak to lay down their arms as our door is always open for those who wanted to start a new life and be with their family now that Christmas is fast approaching.”
