6 BIFF fighters yield in Sultan Kudarat

SIX MEMBERS of the Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters (BIFF) surrendered to the 2nd Mechanized Infantry Battalion at the headquarters of the 1st Mechanized Infantry Brigade in Barangay Kalandagan, Tacurong City, Sultan Kudarat.

Colonel Ronel Manalo, acting commander of the 1st Mechanized Brigade, and Sultan Kudarat Vice Governor Raden C. Sakaluran, received the former BIFF members.

The surrendered weapons included one M1 Garand rifle, one M203 grenade launcher, one M79 grenade launcher, one Rocket-Propelled Grenade (RPG), one homemade sniper rifle, and one homemade Ingram submachine gun with a magazine.

The identities of those who surrendered are being withheld.

According to the Army report, their decision to surrender proved the growing confidence in the government’s call for peace.

The 2nd Mechanized Battalion, led by Lieutenant Colonel Felmax Lodriguito Jr., remains dedicated to promoting peace, security, and development in the provinces of Sultan Kudarat and Maguindanao del Sur.
