52nd martial law commemoration rally in Davao peaceful

THE COMMEMORATION of the 52nd anniversary of martial law on Sunday, Sept. 21, ended without any incident, according to the Davao City Police Office (DCPO).

While progressive groups held a rally in Freedom Park and Roxas Avenue, there were zero incidents reported.

DCPO spokesperson Captain Hazel Tuazon stated that the Tourist Police Unit increased their presence at Freedom Park and Roxas Avenue to secure the site. 

Acting unit chief Major Ricky Obenza implemented proactive security measures and remained vigilant for potential disturbances in the area.

Approximately 60 participants from the Union of Peoples’ Lawyers in Mindanao (UPLM) and students from various universities and colleges held a candlelight prayer rally for peace.

The candlelight prayer rally concluded around 7:30 p.m.
