400 LED street lights installed in Marilog

The local  government installed 405 LED street lights at Barangay Buda, Marilog District.

Assistant City Administrator Lawrence Bantiding told reporters that the project is part of the transition to LED street lights as Mayor Sara Duterte mentioned in her 2018 state of the city address.“This is our guidance that we will soon transition into led where in fact, our busted sodium lights are replaced by LED lights,” Bantiding said.

Other than, Barangay Buda, in Marilog, C.M. Recto and San Pedro Streets in the Poblacion area have been already installed with LED lights. “There are some parts already installed with LED lights apart from those in Marilog,” Bantiding said.

According to Bantiding, LED lights are more efficient street lights because of brighter illumination and lower electricity consumption.

Bantiding also said that Duterte mandated the installation of LED street lights in a far-flung area of the city because of its situation. “Based on our assessment, we have winding roads in Buda, Marilog, and our terrain is hilly so the mayor saw that we really have to install streetlights in that area,” he said.

“This is to ensure safety of commuters. Once an area is illuminated, the road will be more visible during night time,” he added.
