AROUND 400 artists will be featured at the Mindanao Art 2024 to showcase Mindanao’s diverse and artistic talents at SM Lanang from Sept. 27 to Oct. 6.
According to Lawig-Diwa Inc. president Kublai Millan, almost 1,000 paintings and other artworks will be showcased at the art fair, which is in line with Mindanao Art 2024’s theme “Art on the Edge.”
Millan explained that the theme represents Mindanao and its art communities thriving and flourishing in the art scene of the Philippines, and for people and leaders to look at art as a powerful tool in building a nation.
“We wanted Mindanao to bloom, we wanted our communities to bloom. Because we are on the edge, hindi ganon kadaming resources natin but still we are blooming. So this is how we wanted to inspire our artists,” Millan said during the PEP Talks.
He added that there will be a Collector’s Hour on Sept. 27 from 1 to 5 pm to encourage collectors to pick their choice of art at the art fair.
Mindanao Art 2024 in its 6th edition is organized by Lawig-Diwa Inc. in collaboration with the National Commission for Culture and the Arts and the National Committee on Art Galleries (NCCA-NCAG).
A total of 27 galleries from Mindanao and eight from Visayas and Luzon will be exhibited at Mindanao Art 2024.
