Three hold-up robbery suspects, including a wounded 17-year-old boy, were arrested by responding police officers in Barangay Sasa, Buhangin District yesterday.
Police Major Ruben Libera, Station Commander, identified the suspects as Eeron Monton, 21; James Carl Andres, 18; and Jomar, 17, all residents of Sto. Niño Riverside, Km. 9, Sasa.
Libera said the three men held-up Martin Paul Aldea, Jr., 29, a delivery boy of Doña Paz Subdivision, also in Km 9, yesterday midnight.
Aldea was driving his delivery service motorcycle heading back to Damosa Branch of McDonald Sunday night.
Upon reaching Sasa Bridge minutes before midnight, three men armed with knives waylaid him and declared a hold-up.
The trio forcibly took his black pouch containing P1,000 cash. Not contented, the suspects jointly mauled the victim.
Aldea was able to escape and immediately sought assistance from the police, which is just around a kilometer from the crime scene.
During the follow-up operation, responding officer Corporal Ruel Macaldo arrested Andres who was positively identified by the victim as one of the robbers.
Patrolman Raymond Jake Amyer chased the two other suspects who attempted to escape towards the inner portion of Sto. Niño.
When they were cornered, the suspects resisted arrest and fought the officer.
One of the suspects, later identified as Jomar, pulled a knife and stabbed Amyer, while Monton tried to grab the officer’s firearm.
This compelled Amyer to defend himself by firing his gun. This hit Jomar.
Amyer later subdued the suspects.
Jomar was rushed to the hospital.
Confiscated from the suspect’s possession includes the eight-inch hunting knife and the victim’s black pouch containing the stolen money.
Police Regional Director Brig. Gen. Filmore Escobal lauded the operating unit for the arrest of the three robbery suspects.
“This accomplishment only shows that your police in Region 11 are quick in resolving cases and serious in the campaign against lawlessness and putting criminals behind the bars of justice,” Escobal said.
“We ask for your support to continue helping us in our fight against lawlessness and on illegal drugs. By working together, we will be able to accomplish more for the betterment of our country,” he added.
Charges for robbery and physical injuries will be filed against the arrested persons while the minor will be coordinated to City Social Services and Development Office (CSSDO) for intervention.
