3 NPA rebels surrender

THREE Communist NPA Terrorists (CNTs) surrendered to the 56th Infantry Battalion and handed over two high-powered firearms at Sitio Central Buagan, Barangay Palma Gil, Talaingod, Davao Del Norte, on Sept. 30.

The military identified them as alias Sander, vice-squad leader; alias Alvin and alias Toks, formerly members of the Sub-Regional Sentro De Grabidad Peddler of the North Central Mindanao Regional Committee, operating at the borders of Bukidnon and Talaingod.

They surrendered two M16 rifles and one rifle grenade to the soldiers.

Brigadier General Allan D. Hambala, 10th Infantry Division acting commander, lauded the diligent efforts of the 56IB in persuading the CNTs to return to the folds of the law.

“The voluntary surrenders like this one are essential milestones in the region’s ongoing efforts to sustain an insurgency-free Davao Region,” Hambala added.

Since Jan. 1, 2023, the 10ID has recorded the following numbers of surrenderees: 109 regular NPA members, 134 Milisyang Bayan members, and 67 Underground Mass Organization members associated with the communist terrorist group.

Moreover, the Agila Division gained 141 firearms, 111 of which acquired through surrenders.
