3 Davao checkpoints need 21 more thermal scanners

The Task Force Davao yesterday said the limited number of thermal scanners has caused delays and long lines at the three checkpoints in the city.

Col. Consolito Yecla, the Task Force Davao commander, said there is enough personnel and health workers assigned at the checkpoints upon entry in the city, but they badly need more thermal scanners.

“The lines are very long,” Yecla said.

There are three entry and exit points in the city–Barangay Lasang (Alejandra Navarro) in Bunawan District, Barangay Lacson in Calinan, and Barangay Sirawan in Toril.

Yecla said there are only two scanners in Barangay Lasang detachment and they need eight more.

For the Sirawan detachment, four are available and they need another six. Meanwhile, they need another seven on top of the three available gadgets at the Lacson detachment.

Meanwhile, the newly created task force to contain COVID-19 recommended to totally close down Davao Region from all outsiders beginning 12:01 a.m. of Thursday, March 19. However, the ban on the movement between intra-region cities and municipalities in Southern Mindanao has been lifted.

“Tagum residents are allowed to go in when they pass the thermal check of the City Health Office,” Yecla said.
