24 nabbed in Kalinaw

Authorities collared 24 fugitives in the latest round of Oplan Kalinaw, a weekly operation to weed out wanted individuals hiding in the city’s urban poor communities.

Davao City Police Office (DCPO) Director Col. Alexander Tagum said the series of operations also resulted in the background check and profiling of 921 residents, including 40 persons with no valid identification card.

Most of those arrested this week are accused of violating laws on illegal gambling. Nabbed for the charges were Ronaldo Namu Taladwa, Chielo Buhisan To-ong, Joey Porcadilla Suralta, Tessie Tindogan Lanaban, Alberto Basoy Depit, Rodolfo Estiola Lemen, Marilyn Avdan Francisco, Ritchie Manila Panuayan, Roseta Urnadeta Lopez, Bryan Urdaneta Lopez, Arlene Mulles Lopez, Ronald Simeon Yparraguirre, Romeo Magale Munion and Roque Mabasag Enangoy.

Other arrested were Merlyn Tan Entero (murder), Dindo Dampog Araño (attempted murder),  Joseph Rey Bagnol Cabuga (grave coercion), Rowena Quijano Abella (acts of lasciviousness), Palabrica Dadio (estafa), Menecio Agon Muncay (other light threats), Robby Culardo Arino (SSS law), Antonino Ebal Marapao (building code), and Celistina Ayop Hulapong and John Ricks Estapia Sasing (child abuse).

The seven-hour operations that ended noon of Thursday were conducted in the police areas of Sta. Ana (Purok 3, Barangay 32-D), San Pedro (Puroks 9, 10 and 11 in Brgy. 39-D), Talomo (Bliss, Brgy. Bago Aplaya), Sasa (Summy Uy Relocation, Km. 11, Brgy. Sasa), Buhangin (Purok San Antonio, Brgy. Acacia), Bunawan (Purok 4, Bunaply, Brgy.  Bunawan Proper), Paquibato (Sitio Balintong, Brgy. Malabog) Toril (Purok 6, Brgy. Baracatan), Tugbok (Don Roman Cuizon, Phase 2, Brgy. Sto Niño), Calinan (Purok 7, Brgy. Dacudao), Marilog (Brgy. Salaysay).

Aiding the DCPO in the operations include Task Force Davao, Philippine Coast Guard, Regional Mobile Unit, National Intelligence Coordinating Agency, Bureau of Fire and Protection, Criminal  Investigation and Detection Group, Regional Intelligence Unit, 44th Special Action Company,  Davao City Treatment and Rehabilitation Center for Drug Dependents and the City Health Office.

A total of 594 residents also availed of the free medical check-up, supplemental food feeding and 432 persons received free medicines and vitamins.
