Davao City will be implementing a 24/7 liquor ban starting today until the enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) is lifted.
The measure adopted the 24-hour liquor ban order from the Regional Task Force for COVID-19, said Mayor Sara Duterte on Saturday.
In her radio broadcast interview with the Davao City Disaster Radio, the city mayor said they are currently fine-tuning Executive Order No. 23 to formally declare the order to the public on Monday.
The new order will be an amendment on the previously issued Executive Order No. 14 last March 19, prohibiting the buying and selling of liquor from 5 p.m. to 8 a.m.
“We need to reflect on our … adoption of the 24-hour liquor ban from the RTF order for the duration of the ECQ,” Duterte said.
62 positive cases
Meanwhile, Davao City now has a total of 62 COVID-19 positive cases, based on the data from the Department of Health-Davao Center for Health Development (DCHD).
As of 8 p.m. on Saturday, the DOH-DCHD reported that there are four new confirmed cases in the city bringing the total to 77 COVID-19 cases in Davao Region.
Of the 62 COVID-19 cases in the city, 17 patients were reported to have already recovered.
Currently, the region has a total of 21 patients to have recovered from the disease, while 11 individuals were previously reported to have expired due to the infection. All of the 11 fatalities are COVID-19 positive cases in Davao City.
As of Saturday, the DOH-Davao had reported no fatalities due to COVID-19 in the different provinces of Davao Region.
Meanwhile, Davao del Norte remains to have nine COVID-19 positive patients being treated; Davao Oriental has three patients positive of the virus, two of which have already recovered; Davao del Sur remains to have two positive cases; Davao de Oro with one COVID-19 case; and Davao Occidental still recorded zero cases of the deadly disease.
Mayor Sara Duterte has already placed Davao City under enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) at 9 p.m. on Saturday due to the increasing number of individuals infected by COVID-19.
