23 fugitives nabbed

Twenty-five fugitives were arrested by the authorities during the simultaneous Oplan Kalinaw operations conducted in the different urban poor communities in the city on Thursday.

Davao City Police Office (DCPO) Director Col. Alexander Tagum said the series of operations also resulted in the identity/background check and profiling of 965 residents, including 11 persons without valid identification card.

Tagum said those arrested fugiutives have pending warrants of arrest issued by the court.

He identified the arrested accused as Dante Mamalias Mateo (rape with homicide); Romil Bagood Paran (frustrated homicide); Hadain Samain Jailani and Jolan Dizon Lastra Mansilita (illegal drugs), Braulio Baguio Pacaldo (malicious mischief); Ruben Fuentes Alibuyog (grave slander); Ritchelle Boy Estrada Dagondon (acts of lasciviousness); Russel Morano Derecho (estafa); Winnie Lausa Mabitad (illegal tree cutting); John Leo Sollo Lupo and Renato Canete Cuevas (driving motorcycle without helmet); and Conrado Luz Chua III, Lopecino Cadiente Macas Jr., Joseph Eugenio Macahig, Adrian Navarez Mesperos, Renato Salan Conde, Ananias Arcilla Villanueva Jr., Reynaldo Rasula Inotan, Michelle Batatola Olivo, Maximo Awa Vallescas, Glicerino Cuan Clata Jr., Belmar Laurino Luciano, Roderick Ramirez Olaybar, Nasser Guedan Larawi, and Maritess Baguio Cumanda (illegal gambling).

Tagum said the operations were conducted in the police areas of Sta. Ana Police (Sitio Barpa, Barangay Leon Garcia); San Pedro (Purok 2, San Pedro Extension, Barangay 6-A); Talomo (Purok 12, Bavnai Squat, Barangay Bago Aplaya); Sasa (Purok 24, Kalderohan, Malagamot, Barangay Panacan); Buhangin (Purok San Nicholas, Mangga Street, Barangay Buhangin Proper); Bunawan (Purok 3, Valdez, Barangay Tibungco); Paquibato (Purok, Pegdalahan, Barangay Pandaitan); Toril (Purok 4-B, Barangay Lubogan); Tugbok (Prk 8-B, Sitio Kupay, Tierra Nueva, Barangay Tacunan); Calinan (Purok 1-C, Barangay Talomo River); Baguio (Purok African-B, Daisy, Baguio Proper); and Marilog (Sitio New Sabang, Barangay Tamugan).

Led by the Davao City Police Office, the operations has been supported by the Task Force Davao, Philippine Coast Guard, Regional Mobile Unit, National Intelligence Coordinating Agency 11, Bureau of Fire and Protection 11, Criminal Investigation and Detection Group 11, Regional Intelligence Unit, 44th Special Action Company, Davao City Treatment and Rehabilitation Center for Drug Dependents, and City Health Office.

In addition, a total of 540 residents availed of the free medical check-up, supplemental food feeding and 318 persons received free medicines and vitamins.

The seven-hour operation ended at about 12 noon on the same day.
