THE OFFICE of the Senior Citizens’ Affairs (OSCA) announced a total of 217 beneficiaries will be provided a cash grant in the third payout for the Expanded Centenarian Program.
OSCA head Lorenzo Borja said the third batch comprises 123 seniors turning 80, 65 seniors turning 85, 26 seniors turning 90, one senior turning 95, and two centenarians.
The third payout is scheduled for April 8 but is subject to change since they are still finalizing the venue to cater to the volume of people.
Borja said they are considering conducting the payout in the three districts simultaneously to bring the program closer to the beneficiaries.
For senior citizens who have difficulty or are bedridden, family members can get the cash gift on their behalf, provided they have an authorization letter signed by the beneficiary.
Meanwhile, for senior citizens who passed away after their birthday, family members can still receive the incentive.
Senior citizens and family members are encouraged to register a month before they turn 80 to secure the cash gift.
Under the expanded Centenarian Law, senior citizens, upon reaching 80 years old and every five years thereafter, are eligible to receive P10,000.
Republic Act 11982 expanded the coverage of RA 10868 or the Centenarians Act of 2016, entitling elderly Filipinos aged 80-95 years old to the cash gift.
Meanwhile, those celebrating their 100th birthday will receive a total of P100,000 from the local government and P100,000 from the national government.
For the first two payouts, 171 senior citizens already benefited from the payout held on February 26 at the Almendras Gym and on March 19 at the People’s Park.
