2025 Datu Bago Awards nomination is on

THE NOMINATION for the 2025 Datu Bago Awards was announced on Tuesday, Oct. 1. 

In a statement, Councilor Pilar C. Braga, Datu Bago Board of Trustees chair, said everyone can nominate individuals who they believe best represent the city. 

“The Datu Bago Award is a tribute to the exceptional Dabawenyos whose dedication, vision, and passion have propelled our city forward. Their contributions inspire us all to strive for greatness,” Braga said in a press release. 

Nomination forms are available at the Office of Councilor Pilar C. Braga; Office of the President, University of Mindanao, Bolton Street, Davao City; Habi at Kape, Rogen Inn, Mt. Apo; Annipie’s Bakery and Café, Ecoland, Quimpo Boulevard.; Office of the School President, Philippine Nikkei Jin Kai International School, and Mindanao Kokusai Daigaku, Angliongto Avenue. 

The deadline for submission is until Dec. 27, 2024. 

Datu Bago Awards, started in 1969, is the highest honor bestowed by the city government of Davao to individuals who have demonstrated outstanding service, and leadership and have contributed to the welfare and advancement of Davaoeños.

Former President Rodrigo Duterte is the lone awardee of the Datu Bago Award 2024 edition. 

To recall, the last lone Datu Bago awardee was Julian P. Rodriguez, Jr. in 2005. After 2005, there were about 2-4 awardees in the annual event.

Braga earlier revealed in the Aprubado sa Konseho media forum, on March 5, that the committee has to suspend five nominees for this year, but will be reconsidered in 2025.
