Twenty fugitives were arrested in a joint operation by the Davao City Police Office on different areas of the city in line with its objective of securing the Kadayawan festival.
City police director Sr. Supt. Alexander Tagum told TIMES yesterday that the series of operations resulted in the background check of 1,114 people in nine barangays around 6 a.m. yesterday. Of the total, 126 of them could not present an identification card. They were made to sign a logbook before they were allowed to go.
The 20 wanted persons were identified as Kenneth Cacayurin Tagsa who has a pending case for frustrated murder (CC # R-DVO-18-03299-CR); Roberto Maisog Gonzales for the crime of frustrated murder (CC # R-DVO-18-03299-CR); Christian Monreal Gonzales for the crime of frustrated murder (CC # R-DVO-18-03299-CR); Ariel Palmera Gonzales for the crime of frustrated murder (CC # R-DVO-18-03299-CR); Eric Indagacan Gallardo for the crime of frustrated murder (CC # R-DVO-18-03299-CR); Jay-Ar Oribawan for the crime of frustrated murder (CC # R-DVO-18-03299-CR); and Jaymar Masandang Gambito for the crime of murder (CC # 4422-2017).
Aso arrested were Ireneo Toledo Limboy Jr. for violation of PD 1602 (CC # 18-01650; Jesus Danilo Dela Peña for violation of RA 9165 (CC. # 17-00956-CR); Jona Liza Firmeza Castañas for violation of RA 7610 (CC # DVO-18-02727-CR); Marcelina Chavez Leduna for grave oral defamation (CC. # M-DVO-18-02534-CR); Marlene Linao Palanca for violation of PD 1602 (CC # M-DVO-18-02653-CR); Pedreng Mindo Rico for violation of PD 1602 (CC # M-DVO-18-02653-CR); and Norman Tidalgo Naluan for violation of BP 22 (CC # M-DVO-16-014160-CR).
Others were identified as Angelo Galabo for theft (CC # M-DVO-18-00841-CR); Kevin Salota for the crime of theft (CC # M-DVO-18-00841-CR); Arnel Gomez for theft (CC # M-DVO-18-00841-CR); Magell Christine Bato Quimpo for violation of R.A. 10175 (CC # R-DVO-18-03021, 03022, 03023, 03024-CR); Tom Molina for theft (CC # M-DVO-17-03228-CR); and Dennis Barce for the crime of arson (CC # R-DVO-17-05278-CR).
In addition, a total of 775 residents availed of the free medical check-up and supplemental food feeding and 772 persons received free medicines.
The joint operation, dubbed “Oplan Kalinaw,” was done in collaboration with the Task Force Davao, Philippine Coast Guard XI, Regional Mobile Unit, National Intelligence Coordinating Agency, Bureau of Fire Protection XI, Criminal Investigation and Detection Group XI, 44th Special Action company, and the City Health Office.
The Oplan Kalinaw is a four-in-one package, which is designed to initiate: 1) Identity/background check and profiling of transient residents in urban poor communities; 2) Manhunt operations/ arrest of fugitives hiding in these communities; 3) Community outreach; and 4) Community empowerment through crime prevention education.
They joint operations were conducted in the precinct jurisdictions of Sta. Ana (Purok 1, Barangay 76-A); San Pedro (Purok 7, Barangay 1-A); Talomo (Seaside Bangkal, Barangay Talomo); Sasa (Mandaling, Km. 10, Barangay Sasa); Buhangin (Purok 11, Barangay Communal); Bunawan (Purok 2, Sitio Matarlo, Barangay Mahayag); Toril (Purok 9, Barangay Lubogan, Toril); Tugbok (Barangay Ula); and Calinan (Purok 39, Abayon Mosque, Poblacion Calinan).
