2 fire incidents hamper the New Year

A FIRE gutted three houses and a commercial establishment in Purok 33, Ramon Magsaysay Street, Calinan District around 1:30 a.m. on New Year’s Day.  

Also, a bunkhouse inside the Police Regional Office (PRO) XI in Camp Quintin M. Merecido, Buhangin was engulfed in flames around 1:54 a.m. on the same day.

According to the Davao City Police Office (DCPO) report, the fire started in the house of Janet Miculob. The flames rapidly spread toward the adjacent houses of Nene Lanoy and their neighbors.

Bureau of Fire and Protection (BFP) XI personnel and other fire departments responded to the area immediately to control the flames.

Based on the investigation, the estimated structural damage reached P662,000.

About 20 minutes later, firefighters responded to another incident inside the police camp. They put out the fire at 2:38 a.m.

According to the report, a rat gnawing on electrical wires caused the ignition. The fire investigator estimated the cost of damage to reach P37,500.
