2 Chinese nationals, driver nabbed for selling illegal cigarettes

THE POLICE arrested two Chinese nationals and their driver on Sunday, May 26, for allegedly selling illegal cigarettes in an entrapment operation at South Bay, Barangay Lapu-Lapu, Agdao District.

The foreign suspects, ages 34 and 35, are residing in Agdao while the 29-year-old driver hailed from Maragusan. They face a charge under Republic Act 10643 (Graphic Health Warnings on Tobacco Products).

Captain Hazel Tuazon, Davao City Police Office (DCPO) spokesperson, reported that the trio conspired to sell a master case of “Bros” brand cigarettes to an undercover officer for P15,000. Police confiscated additional 39 master cases of the same brand, estimated at P2 million.

All suspects and confiscated cigarettes are currently detained at the Sta. Ana Police Station for processing.
