2 candidates file COC under Nograles party

TWO ASPIRING councilors filed their respective certificates of candidacy (COCs) under the party of the Nograles, the long-time political rivals of the Dutertes

Ricky Liparanon, 51, and Priscilla Galope Albarracin, 55, registered their name as a candidate for councilor for the city’s first district under the Lakas-CMD in the 2025 National and Local Elections.

Liparanon is the incumbent chairman of Barangay Baliok, Talomo District here. Aside from being a barangay chair for two terms, he also became a barangay councilor for two terms.

One of his focus programs is to push for just compensation for rescuers, and volunteers as they are considered the frontliners during times of disaster.

When asked if he is ready to challenge the councilors and possibly make a comeback, he said he does not mind challenging the majority political party in the city.

Wala koy pakialam sa ila kay ako akong isulong akong plataporma ug unsay mabuhat nako sa tibuok Davao City,” he said.

Meanwhile, Albarracin is a former chairman of Barangay 5-A for eight years. However, she declined to give her focus programs, but will reveal it in “due time.”

Pero sa ngayon gusto ko ipaalam sa lahat na moserbisyo ko og kinasing-kasing para sa distrito uno,” she said.

Albarracin is the daughter of former city councilor Rene Galope– a vocal critic of then-mayor Rodrigo Duterte–who died in 2004.

As of writing, Albarracin and Liparanon are the third and fourth to register their name for first district councilor after Rigo Duterte II filed on Wednesday, and Markoper P. Javier (IND) filed his COC on Tuesday, Oct. 1.

Meanwhile, first-timer candidate Ramil Fernando Brucal filed his candidacy as councilor in the city’s third district.

Lakas-CMD, the biggest political party in the House– led by Speaker Ferdinand Martin Romualdez– is an ally of Lakas-Christian Muslim Democrats.

Both parties signed an alliance manifesto with the Nationalist People’s Coalition, National Unity Party, and Nacionalista Party during the Alyansa Para Sa Bagong Pilipinas convention on Sept. 26.

Alyansa Para Sa Bagong Pilipinas is an electoral alliance formed to field candidates for the 2025 polls.
