1st Padyak Para sa Pagbabago on May 5

Davao City – Around 200 cyclists are expected to see action in the 1st “Padyak Para sa Pagbabago” mountain bike challenge inside the 24-hectare Monfort Bat Sanctuary on Sunday, May 5, 2019 at 7 a.m. in Barangay Tambo, Babak District, Island Garden City of Samal.

The criterium and circuit mountain bike race on Sunday is initiated by Ms. Norma Monfort, Founder and President of Philippine Bats for Peace Foundation and as President of Rotary Club South Davao the activity is to help raise funds for Rotary International’s “End Polio Now Campaign.”

Monfort said this event aims to pursue and inspire participating bikers coming as far as Cotabato City, Tagum City, Panabo City, General Santos City and ComVal Province to become messengers of peace and change by disseminating information in their municipalities thus awakening in our fellow citizens true love of country.

“Through the symbolic connection of eradicating the debilitating disease of polio to the “crippling disease” of the state of our minds today waiting for change to happen, these bikers are encouraged to inspire our people to “be the change” by calling for national solidarity so that together we can start the change towards social consciousness formation and involvement in nation building. As we always say, with our own individual heroism combined, we can be stronger heroes and become builders of our nation,” Monfort said.

Registration fee is pegged at P350.00 inclusive of souvenir shirt, lunch pack, raffle entry and certificate and free night and day tour entrance to the Monfort Bat Sanctuary. Early registrants will have an overnight access to the Bat Sanctuary a day before the race also free of charge.
