18 nabbed in Kalinaw

Eighteen individuals, mostly with warrants of arrest, were arrested during the Oplan: Kalinaw simultaneously held by authorities in various barangays of the city on Thursday morning.

Meanwhile, 35 motorcycles were also impounded by the authorities in Oplan: Lambat Bitag Sasakyan on Thursday afternoon.

Sr. Insp. Maria Teresita Gaspan, spokesperson of Davao City Police Office (DCPO), said Oplan: Kalinaw also resulted in the identity check and profiling of 1,109 residents, among them were 110 individuals with no identification card.

Fourteen of the 18 arrested persons have pending warrants of arrest.

They were identified as Marwin Robles Rodriguez, Rey Relator Avellana and Karen Quino Lamoste (illegal drugs); Arnel Alegado Naran and Jessie Mahinay Calbonero Jr. (child abuse through lascivious conduct); Peter Alexander Lascano Quemada and George Seras Piodos (theft); Lolita Guzman Aro and Rexer S. Blase (SSS law); Irene Davis Sarad and Ma. Grace Marna Cueta (illegal gambling) ; Ricky Boy Sumaya Mandil (homicide); Carlos Ejada Dungog Jr. (frustrated murder); and Christine Mae Palarao Mamalias (trust receipts law).

Two persons were also arrested through the implementation of search warrants. They were identified as Marlon Migio Nemenzo (illegal firearm and illegal drugs) and Tony Jaron (illegal drugs).

Two persons were arrested through police response. They were Allen Khadir Uy (theft) and Brian Apale Baluyot (physical injury).

In addition, a total of 656 residents availed the free medical check-up.

The DCPO-led operation was aided by the Task Force Davao, Regional Force Mobile Battalion XI, Philippine Coast Guard XI, Regional Maritime Unit XI, National Intelligence and Coordinating Agency XI, Bureau of Fire Protection XI, Criminal Investigation and Detection Group XI, Regional Intelligence Unit XI, Rehabilitation Center for Drug Dependents, and City Health Office.

The Oplan: Kalinaw, a four-in-one package, aims to
conduct identity/background check and profiling of transient residents in urban poor communities in the City; Manhunt operations/arrest of wanted persons/fugitives hiding in these communities;
community outreach/free medical check-up and giving of medicines and vitamins; and
community empowerment through crime prevention education.

Last Thursday’s operation was conducted in Barangay 23-B (Prk 4, Zonta) under Sta. Ana Police Precinct; Barangay 76-A (Prk. 19, Bolton Isla) under San Pedro Police Precinct; Barangay 74-A (Durian Street, Juna Subdivision) under Talomo Police Precinct; Barangay Sasa (Km12, St John) under Sasa Police Precinct; Barangay Tigatto (Purok 4-A, Sta Marina) under Buhangin Police Precinct; Barangay Ilang (River View) under Bunawan Police Precinct; Barangay Toril Proper (Purok 4, Poblacion) under Toril Police Precinct; Barangay Los Amigos (Relocation) under Tugbok Police Precinct; Barangay Lacson (Prk 9) under Calinan Police Precinct.

The joint Oplan: Kalinaw ended at 9 a.m.

In its Oplan: Lambat Bitag Sasakyan, 35 motorcycles were confiscated in various streets of the city.

Gaspan said the simultaneous operations also resulted in the confiscation of 253 driver’s licenses and the issuance of 99 citation tickets for various traffic violations.

Gaspan said the operations were conducted in the areas of the following police stations: Sta. Ana, San Pedro, Talomo, Sasa, Buhangin, Bunawan, Toril, Tugbok and Calinan.

The impounded vehicles were endorsed to Traffic Group for proper disposition.

The major road security and safety operations started around 3 p.m. and ended by 5:30 p.m.

Aiding the DCPO in the operations were the Regional Mobile Force Battalion, Task Force Davao, Highway Patrol Group, Land Transportation Office, Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board, and City Traffic and Transport Management office (CTTMO) with the support of IRON CITY deployment of police personnel and police auxiliary.

Gaspan said the operations aimed to clear the city street of carnapped, undocumented and delinquent vehicles.
