16 vendors arrested

  • Suspects include two minors in operation vs smuggled cigarettes 

 

SIXTEEN vendors, including two minors, were detained for allegedly selling smuggled cigarettes at Bankerohan Public Market, Datu Bago Street, Bankerohan, on Tuesday morning, Sept. 5.

Major Marvin Hugos, the San Pedro Police Station commander, identified them as Yusop Madid Maunga, 26, a resident of Metro Circle, Barangay 2-A; Makie Paote Cotongan, 27; Jamal Mawalo Cotongan, 27; Abdulsalem Lumayas Dima, 25; Naima Lomondot Dimakuta, 34; Abdulwajed Lomondot Imran, 25, and Analiza Paute Cotongan, 21.

The rescued minors were Esmael and Janal, 17 and 16 years old, respectively. 

The others were Janinah Baulo Lomodnot, 30, and Norodin Abbas Dipatuan, 32, residents of Datu Bago, Bankerohan; Noronisa Panarigan Jamal, 25; Noraida Tarosan Domaraya, 60, a resident of Isla Verde; Arwen Macabantog Andang, 26, and resident of Purok 6, Rasay, Bankerohan; Dika Tomongal Benasing, 50, from Pag-asa, Bankerohan; and Abdulnasir Basiri Ahalul, 37, a resident of Barangay Alambre, Toril.

The suspects were caught with a total of 3,091 packs of various cigarette brands with an estimated worth of P154,550. They are now in the custody of the San Pedro Police Station while the two minors were turned over to the Women and Children Protection Desk.
