POLICE Regional Office XI director Brigadier General Leon Victor Rosete revealed that 15 of its personnel are facing administrative charges after testing positive for illicit drugs in various screenings since last year.
He said this is part of the ongoing internal cleansing efforts within the organization.
In a media interview on Friday, April 25, he said random testing is an inherent mechanism in the force to weed out rogue officers.
He said any law enforcer who tests positive undergoes due process before their likely removal.
Rosete also reminded commanders that they could also face potential administrative action under the principle of command responsibility.
In a separate interview on Friday afternoon, PRO XI spokesperson Major Catherine Dela Rey provided a breakdown of the 15 policemen who tested positive in the random drug tests.
“One in the city and five in the provinces,” Dela Rey said. “An additional four have tested positive this year – one in New Bataan (around the time my name circulated) and three in Davao Oriental.”
Elaborating on the previous year’s findings, Dela Rey noted that eight policemen from various units within PRO XI were already relieved of their duties and are currently undergoing a pre-charge investigation.
