THE POLICE Regional Office XI arrested 127 violators in Davao since the gun ban was enforced from Aug. 28 to Nov. 29, 2023, as part of the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections.
Major Catherine Dela Rey, PRO XI spokesperson, said the police confiscated 140 total assorted firearms, bladed weapons, and improvised explosives.
According to Dela Rey, the 127 arrested persons were charged with violating RA 10591, or Illegal Possession of Firearms and Ammunition, and the Gun Ban Omnibus Election Code.
She said the circumstances vary for the suspects arrested in various police operations.
“There are others who were there during the police operation, so they are already mixed up. (For some), they were arrested at the checkpoint, or they were caught in the buy-bust operation,” Dela Rey said.
