10th ID chief thanks security cluster for orderly Ironman

THE 10TH Infantry Division commended the organizers and the Inter-Agency Task Group responsible for securing the Ironman 70.3 held in the city and some parts of Davao Del Norte from March 24 to 26.

The Police Regional Office (PRO) XI, Task Force Haribon, Task Force Davao, and the National Intelligence Coordinating Agency (NICA) XI comprised the security cluster for the said international event.

Likewise, the 1003rd Infantry Brigade and 1001st Infantry Brigade provided security operations, especially along the alternate routes of vehicles, boundaries, and other needed security designated areas.

“I congratulate all troops, including the organizers, for completing the task of securing the most anticipated international triathlon in the country. I believe that the security sector, the local and national governments, and the whole Davaoeños were able to showcase the peaceful environment we have here in Southern Mindanao,” MGen Jose Eriel Niembra, 10ID commander, said.

Likewise, Niembra highlighted the significance of having an Insurgency-Free Region and invited investors and tourists to come and visit Davao Region.

Davao City Sports Development Office head Mikey Aportadera said the event was generally peaceful despite the several untoward incidents during the race.

Aportadera added that the staging of Ironman is a welcoming sight for tourism in Davao City.

The security sector deployed around 6,000 combined troops to secure multiple areas covered by the race in Azuela Cove, Davao City, to several main streets in the city going to the national highways in Panabo, Carmen, and Tagum, all in Davao Del Norte.
